Taia exit from Catalans confirmed

Catalans Dragons have suffered a major blow ahead of next season after it was revealed that influential forward Zeb Taia will return to the NRL and join Gold Coast Titans.

Taia has signed a two-year deal with the Titans starting next season, and will join fellow key back-rower Elliott Whitehead in leaving the Dragons to try the NRL.

“I appreciate Catalans allowing me to go home and return to the NRL,” said Taia, who has scored 11 tries in 18 appearances this year.

“We have enjoyed our stay here and my goal here was to be one of the influential players in the team. In my first two seasons we made the finals which has been rewarding.

“But I have never lost the desire to play in the NRL again and this is too good an opportunity to pass up.”

Catalans announced earlier this week that Australian international forward Dave Taylor would be joining the club next year from the Titans, whilst they are also understood to be interested in Leeds hooker Paul Aiton.
