Thursday is best attack v best defence, says Burke

Wigan Warriors forward Greg Burke admits he’s looking forward to Thursday’s clash against Widnes – one which pits the best attack in the competition against the best defence.

Widnes have racked up over 200 points so far in their six games, by far the highest in the competition. At the other end of the pitch, Wigan have shipped just 66 points in their five matches played thus far, giving them the best defence in the competition.

The two sides meet with top spot on the line in Thursday’s televised clash at the DW Stadium, and whilst Burke says the Vikings have been “brilliant” lately, the battle of attack vs defence is one that will be intriguing to see play out.

“Widnes have been brilliant haven’t they? I watched their game against Hull and they bulldozed them,” he told the club’s official website.

“Their attack is really good but our defence is the best in the competition so it’s the best attack against the best defence and we’ll see who comes out on top.”
