Tom Johnstone wins Rob Burrow Award as voting breakdown revealed

TOM JOHNSTONE has been crowned the third winner of the Rob Burrow Award for a man-of-the-match display in this evening’s Super League Grand Final.

Wakefield Trinity were crowned champions for the first time in 58 years as Warrington Wolves fell by the Trinity sword in a 23-10 classic.

Johnstone, who scored one try, assisted another and should have almost had two others, was voted in front of his Wakefield teammates as the game’s best player.

The flying winger received 21 votes with Tyson Smoothy in second with nine. Captain Mike McMeeken received four votes, Jake Trueman two and Jack Sinfield, Max Jowitt and Jazz Tevaga all one apiece.

Bevan French (Wigan Warriors) and Mikey Lewis (Hull KR) were the previous two winners of the Rob Burrow Award after its name was changed from the Harry Sunderland Trophy.
