New Zealand Warriors full-back Sam Tomkins has said tomorrow night’s friendly with former club Wigan will be the first time he has wanted the cherry and whites to lose a game.
The England international will not play against his former club due to being saved for this weekend’s Auckland Nines tournament.
“It will be tough, I guess it will be the first time I’ve ever wanted Wigan to lose,” he said said.
“But I’m looking forward to it, to see all of the boys again, they’re all my best mates and to spend a bit of time with them will be really good.
“They’ll be up in Auckland for around four days after the game and that will be nice.”
The match will serve as a warm-up for Wigan, who take on Sydney Roosters on February 22 in the World Club Challenge.
