Wakefield Trinity star Jazz Tevaga called up to Samoa World Cup squad

WAKEFIELD TRINITY will have a representative in this year’s World Cup, with star forward Jazz Tevaga being given the nod by Samoa head coach Ben Gardiner.

Tevaga has been a revelation for Trinity since joining ahead of the 2026 Super League season, registering five tries in 26 appearances as he helped Wakefield to Grand Final victory.

The 31-year-old is Super League’s only representative, with Canterbury Bulldogs star Stephen Crichton and Wests Tigers halfback Jarome Luai among those included.

“One of the great things rugby league does is bring people together,” coach Gardiner said.

“As we build towards our first World Cup game, we want to thank all Samoans around the world for their ongoing support. Your blessings and prayers are welcomed.

“Whether you are in Samoa, elsewhere around the world, taking part in a parade or marching into the ground, we see you and thank you for your love and support. Our staff and players look forward to seeing our colours, flags and supporters over the coming five weeks.”

Samoa begin their World Cup campaign against France next weekend in Sydney, before they head to the Papua New Guinea capital of Port Moresby to take on the Kumuls and then a third game against Tonga in Sydney.
