WAKEFIELD TRINITY haven’t beaten St Helens in four attempts since their return to Super League, but will be strong favourites to do so on Saturday – and secure their play-off place in the process.
Head coach Daryl Powell has made just one change from the squad named ahead of last Friday’s heartbreaking late defeat to Leeds Rhinos.
Jay Pitts has suffered an arm injury, with his place in Wakefield’s 21-man squad being taken by Jordan Williams.
Meanwhile, Deon Cross (bicep) and Nene Macdonald (knee) could return for St Helens, with young prop Alfie Tate also included by Eamon O’Carroll as he seeks a first win in his fourth game in interim charge.
If Tate, who has had two recent loan appearances for Salford, is selected to play, he would make his senior St Helens and Super League debut and would become the sixth academy homegrown talent to do so in recent weeks.
George Whitby (knee), Jake Burns and Alfie Sinclair step out of the 21-man squad.
