Shaun Wane has fuelled rumours he is set to fill the vacant coaching position at New Zealand Warriors last night when he refused to make a comment on the situation.
The 49-year-old, who has done nothing to hide his desire to coach in the NRL, is highly fancied to take over the post, which was vacated by Matt Elliott earlier this week after a string of poor results.
When approached by the Wigan Evening Post to confirm or deny the reports, he simply said: “No comment.”
Australian bookmakers SportsBet have the Wigan boss as clear favourite to become the Warriors’ next permanent coach. Andrew McFadden, who is taking over until the end of 2014, is second, while St Helens coach Nathan Brown is a close third. Tim Sheens and Tony Iro complete the top five.
