Wane wants to put the pressure on Leeds

Ahead of their clash against Hull FC on Friday night, Wigan coach Shaun Wane has insisted he wants his side to keep up the pressure on league leaders Leeds with another win this weekend.

A win for Wigan on Friday would see them draw level with the Rhinos at the summit ahead of their game against Catalans on Saturday, and whilst he admitted it won’t be easy for Leeds in Perpignan, he wants his team to do their bit and apply the pressure on the Rhinos.

“It won’t be an easy trip for Leeds going over there (to Perpignan), but they’re a champion team,” Wane said.

“That’s out of my control, I’ll just make sure my team are prepared for Hull and, if we can put some pressure onLeeds, then great.

“If we don’t get it (top spot) in the end, we won’t have deserved it. The one thing I want is a real, good professional performance on Friday going into the St Helens game the week after.”
