WITH a big clash against Hull KR looming on Tuesday night, the priority for Sam Burgess was to come through the York Knights game without any fresh injury concerns.
The Warrington Wolves boss was pleased to report his squad emerged from their hard-fought, 30-10 win without any cause for concerns – barring the manner in which they conceded some of their tries.
The Knights put the Wolves to the test and came up with points off the back of kicks, something which Burgess will have his side working on in training.
“The last three tries we have conceded are all kick tries,” he admitted. “We will have to do a bit of work on that.
“I am happy overall, and with the five-day turnaround we are just happy to get through healthy.
“There has been a lot of change in the team… it was always going to be a little scratchy.”
Burgess also praised star half George Williams, who marked his return from a lengthy lay-off with a serious neck injury by contributing to several tries.
“It is just nice to see him back on the field,” said Burgess. “We didn’t expect too much from him tonight, but he is very competitive.
“He only knows one way to go so I knew he would find himself in a few collisions and I am just happy he pulled up well.”
