Warrington Wolves would “welcome” Cooper Cronk

Warrington Wolves head coach has admitted he admires Melbourne and Australia half-back Cooper Cronk – after reports intensified that the Wolves are interested in pulling off a sensational move for the star.

Smith told Sky Sports that if he ever did want to come to England, the Wolves would welcome him with open arms, saying it is a compliment to be even linked with a move for the World Cup winner.

“He’s a fantastic player. I think he’d be on most people’s wish lists,” Smith said.

“I’d say that’s a message board type recruitment wish list than reality at the moment. He’s doing a great job over there. If he ever wants to come this way that would be great. We’d certainly welcome him.

“We’re one of those clubs, the main club that gets linked to every big name that’s floating around in the game. It’s a nice compliment for us to be linked with someone like him. He’s certainly a player I admire.”
