We can challenge, says Daryl Powell

Castleford coach Daryl Powell believes his team can challenge the best sides in Super League, after they picked up a third straight win to move into the competition’s top four.

A win for either Huddersfield or Warrington when the two sides meet on Sunday will see Cas slip back to fifth, but the 31-24 win at Headingley was Castleford’s third in succession, further hauling them away from the bottom four.

And Powell praised his side for the way they held out in the face of a barrage of Leeds attack in the second half, and said that with key players set to return, confidence is high.

“It was an edgy win,” Powell said. “Obviously any win you get at Headingley is a big one.

“We got off to a pretty unbelievable start and we’ve done that three games on the spin now where we’ve rattled the opposition.

“This was more about guts and determination and a little bit of composure at the end.

“Our belief is growing that we can go anywhere and win games. We’ve got some key players to come back in the coming weeks and I don’t see why we can’t challenge anybody.”
