What’s next for London Broncos?

IT’S now looking very obvious that the proposed partnership between the NRL and RL Commercial will take several months to finally agree and sign off, if it ever reaches that point.

In the meantime, the RFL has to decide what to do about London Broncos, who are clearly too good to remain in the Championship and should be in Super League next year.

For some reason Barrow have recorded a marginally higher gradings score than the Broncos for 2026, but the Barrow Chairman Steve Neale has made it quite clear that his club doesn’t want to be in Super League for the foreseeable future, especially when full funding probably wouldn’t be available.

As I’ve said several times before, the decision to elevate London Broncos to the Super League should have been taken months ago.

But I suppose it is better late than never.

What may well happen is that the RFL will put forward a motion for 15 clubs to the next meeting of Super League (Europe) Limited.

Let’s hope that the clubs vote for the motion and that London go into Super League.

Given the short notice, next season will be quite tricky to organise in terms of the fixture list.

But that is the penalty for having delayed this decision for so long.

The shambolic nature of this train of events simply demonstrates that the way the game is administered needs to be totally reorganised.
