Whitehaven take Barrow halfback on loan

Whitehaven have announced the loan signing of Barrow Raiders halfback Jake Carter on an initial month’s loan from the Betfred Championship club.

Carter, who signed a three year deal before the start of this season, has made two appearances so far for the Raiders this season, but with limited game time at Craven Park he will spend the next month at the Recreation Ground.

Haven coach Gary Charlton had been seeking the capture of the youngster and is happy to see him join with his squad for the next month.

“He is highly thought of at Barrow and has impressed when he has played,” said Charlton.

“Jake has had limited game time this season as there is some good halves that he is up against but he possesses a great kicking game and knows how to take a team round the field. We are really pleased to have him on board and he will add plenty of competition to our squad for the forthcoming matches.”

Carter goes straight into contention for this Friday’s Easter derby versus Workington Town.

The club has also announced that forward Lewis Brown has left the club. Brown who joined the club from Salford Red Devils in 2017, has found new work commitments out of the area and the club has wished him well in the future.
