Widnes CEO: Kevin Brown is going nowhere

Widnes chief executive James Rule has refuted growing rumours that Vikings half-back Kevin Brown is poised for a move to the NRL

Thirty-year-old Brown, who was named in Super League’s Dream Team this year, has been heavily linked with a move to Cronulla Sharks in the Australian press recently, with many insisting he is the Sharks’ number one transfer target.

“There’s absolutely no substance in the rumours,” Rule told the Liverpool Echo.

“Everybody knows he’s got another couple of years on his contract. He’s been fabulous for us. He’s the first Widnes player to make the Dream Team, he’s really happy here and we’re really happy with Kevin.

“As the team has evolved and performances have improved, it’s no surprise that a number of those out-of-contract players attracted a lot of attention from other clubs.”
