Widnes Vikings buoyed by kit-event interest

WIDNES VIKINGS have unveiled their new kits, manufactured by Debeau Performance, who recently entered Rugby League via Leigh.

The Vikings have a mainly all-white home strip and mainly all-black away kit, featuring their recently-launched club crest. Both have red trim.

The designs incorporate ‘The Helm of Awe’, symbolising “inner strength, courage and the power to intimidate of inspire”.

A packed crowd attended a special launch event at the DCBL Stadium, with coach Allan Coleman, captain Jack Owens and a selection of players from the club’s men’s, women’s, LDSL, wheelchair and Under 19 teams.

Prior to the fan event, the kits were exclusively launched to sponsors and partners at the stadium.

General manager Tim Holmes said: “From a personal point of view, I’m buzzing to see the room packed.

“The fact I’ve still got queues to buy merchandise and pick up season-tickets, this is what we’re about this year, everyone getting behind the Vikings, and it’s really pleasing and encouraging to see people smiling and having a good time and wanting to be involved.”

Widnes revealed they have surpassed 1,000 season-ticket sales, which they say is significantly ahead of the figures at this point in recent years.
