Wigan omit Josh Charnley from Grand Final squad

England and Wigan winger Josh Charnley has been left out of the Warriors’ 19-man squad for this Saturday’s Grand Final.

Charnley has struggled to get past stiff competition in the shape of Joe Burgess and Dom Manfredi in recent weeks, and has been left out of Wigan’s squad for Old Trafford altogether as the Warriors make two changes.

In come prop Taulima Tautai and centre Anthony Gelling – with Gelling also facing competition from both John Bateman and Oliver Gildart for his space in the side.

“It’s first against second, the final that everyone wanted. Leeds are the form team, they’ve won everything this year so far. It will be tough, we’ve every respect for them,” said coach Shaun Wane.

Wane says he is under no illusion as to the size of the task awaiting his side.

“They’re really well coached,” he continued “They’ve got some fantastic individual talents, real big athletes. It will be a huge challenge but we are really looking forward to it.

“We’ve got talent in our team too and it has all the makings of a fantastic game in front of a full house.”
