WIGAN WARRIORS have lost Ethan Havard to a long-term jaw injury.
Havard suffered a broken jaw in Wigan’s 48-10 thrashing of Wakefield Trinity last weekend, though no timeframe has yet been issued with head coach Matt Peet.
Ahead of Wigan’s clash against York Knights, Peet said: “Ethan Havard broke his jaw in the game on Friday. He had an operation over the weekend and in terms of timeframe we’ll see how he comes back from his check ups and how it’s healing.
“He’s been excellent and he plays big minutes as well so it’s a hole we will have to fill.”
In terms of coming up against York, Peet knows his side will have to be on their mettle.
York pushed the Warriors all the way earlier in the season, only going down to a late field goal in a 23-22 blockbuster.
Peet added: “I feel there’s a lot of optimism around York. They’ve troubled teams, they certainly troubled us when they came to The Brick earlier in the year and we were probably fortunate to get away with the win that night.
“If there’s a game to look back on at what we can expect from York, it would be that home game.”
