Willie Peters gives major update on Arthur Mourgue and Michael McIlorum injuries ahead of Grand Final

WILLIE PETERS has confirmed that Arthur Mourgue is ready to go for this weekend’s Super League Grand Final, though there are more question marks over Michael McIlorum.

Mourgue left the field early during Rovers’ 20-12 win over St Helens last Saturday, whilst McIlorum has missed the last six weeks due to a fractured foot.

Peters gave an early indication of both men’s fitness at the Super League Grand Final preview on Tuesday.

“Arthur is fine and Micky Mac, we will give him until the end of the week,” Peters said.

“He got through the session last week but it flared up after so we will monitor him.”

Rovers go up against last year’s Grand Final nemesis Wigan Warriors this Saturday at Old Trafford, with Peters knowing just how dangerous his opponents will be.

“We’ve got full respect for Wigan – we know what they are capable of. If you start looking at them you’ll get overwhelmed because they’ve got so many good players across the park,” he said.

“It’s all about moments and Wigan are the best in terms of taking the moments and executing chances. There’s no doubt they are the leaders of that.

“How do you stop that? You need to be on for 80 minutes and sometimes longer if it goes to extra time.

“If you give them any time or space then they will hurt you. We need to stop that.”
