WORKINGTON TOWN coach Jonty Gorley says his side has to find more “steel, grit and determination” as they approach a month full of tough fixtures.
After Sunday’s home derby against Barrow, Town host Oldham, head to Salford, then take on Hunslet at the Fibrus Community Stadium.
That’s in the wake of disappointing defeats at home to Sheffield (28-16) and at Dewsbury (32-6).
Gorley’s side were 6-0 up at Dewsbury, and he said: “For once, we started well. With Dewsbury being a big side, we were moving them around in the heat, and could have been further ahead.
“They were looking fatigued, but then we started making errors and giving away penalties and restarts and let them back into it.
“It was really disappointed with our second half, because we invited them to attack us far too much and they were ruthless in taking advantage.”
Gorley was missing key players such as fullback Alex Donaghy, halfback Dom Wear, hooker Callum Phillips and prop Guy Graham.
He is also monitoring Jake Carter after the halfback was forced off by a back injury.
But he added: “The team we put out was strong enough to do better, and we have to find some steel, grit and determination.”
