York sign dual-reg star Marsh on permanent basis

York City Knights have confirmed the signing of Hull KR halfback Matty Marsh.

The 23-year-old spent time with the League 1 champions last year, making 12 appearances for the club in their title-winning campaign.

He made 42 appearances for KR, seven of which came last year in the club’s return to Super League.

But he has now joined James Ford’s side for next season as the Knights prepare for life in the Championship.

“I’m really pleased to able to continue working with Matty,” Ford said.

“He’s a talented young player who has lots of improvement in him as long as he continues to strive for development.

I’m delighted in the progress we’re making as a club which again is indicated with a signing of this quality.”

Marsh added: “This is the club I wanted to sign for.

“I massively enjoyed my time at the club on DR in 2018 and loved playing with a great set of lads. I’m excited to be at a club on the up and we deserve to be at the top level in the future.

“Fordy has helped me a lot this year and I will continue to develop with him as coach. I’m looking forward to working with him and the staff.”
