I watched the interview that Brian Carney did with Rob Purdham on Sky last night. Brian was outstanding. He is so articulate, so smart and so cool on TV. None of the other Sky commentators could have pulled off that delicate interview with the grieving Rob Purdham the way that Brian Carney did. He is light years ahead of Stevo, Terry and Barry. Well done to Sky for the imagination in bring Brian Carney on in his new career.

What a pity we don't have a vibrant and strong Irish rugby league competition, and being on Irish TV. If that day ever comes, Brian Carney will be able to be the perfect front man for the TV side. Meanwhile Brian puts a very intelligent and articulate face on our game for the English and Welsh viewers.

However I suspect that Brian will eventually have a career in TV that goes beyond sport.

You took all my words out of my mouth - I watched too - extremely good and totally professional work on part of both men.

That 30 minute programme epitomized why I love this game and what I believe it stands for...

As for Brian Carney - he is indeed a superb asset and I hope that he continues to grow his presence on and off TV - he can do so much for the game overall.

He deserves the opportunity to build upon what he is already achieving and could contribute more to the game both in TV and in the RFL..

agreed he's great, as is that program now it's off the red button. Just what we need, something a bit different, showing off our players.
Super League, Championship, the play-offs, Challenge Cup, and World Cup.

Agree totally that Brian dealt superbly with what must have been a hard interview for Rob to have done so soon after his loss.

It was also good to see the pathetic "Binocular challenge" was dropped. Lets hope this is permanent as I would much rather hear more from the"supermen".

I might add that Brian's Irish accent was not a problem. Easy to understand. He was much easier to understand than Terry and Barry for most people from down in the south of England.

I was wondering about the hair though. Could he be playing in a rock band on the side? Maybe it's a Beatles trubute band? biggrin.gif

He has acquired a southside Dublin accent and is indeed easy to understand. If he still spoke like a Corkman, you'd be stumped biggrin.gif
I knew he'd be a natural on a TV panel, not only because of his demeanour but his knowledge of the game also.

Brian Carney makes the show, great personality, which comes over in the show.

fantastic delivery in the last show, in what can only be described "difficult and delicate situation"

Carney is a great character and is fantastic for SL and RL in general.

hope we "keep" him in our game and isn't attracted elsewhere.

I reckon you just gave Miss Saintsbird a hot flush and a shaky "Reach for the wine" moment there!

Even as a Wire I am sorry but Westwood is nowhere near as skillful as Super Sam or Ellis.

Wazza's main industrys are service industries, call centres, warehouses and the public sector nowadays. All three are under threat from the Tory cuts.
