Dewsbury Rams v Sheffield Eagles Sunday 29th March, KO: 15:00
muddyfunster replied to horbury ram's topic in Dewsbury Rams
What a game to lose! We only had feed the scrum to win it, then we only had to a make a tackle to win it! What a truly awful set of players and fans Sheffield are. They didn't deserve 2 points, the ref was so out of his depth. I honestly don't believe we are as indisciplined as the officials make us out. He certainly made some bloopers. With what he gifted them a better side would have shipped 30 or 40 past us. Honestly feel robbed today. We must pick ourselves up dust ourselves down and go again. -
Ferres gets 1 penalty point, mo further action! Brett Ferres (Goole Vikings) - Opposition: Dewsbury Rams - Grade A Head Contact - Penalty Points: 1 - Total Penalty Points: 1 - No Further Action

We noticed this too right under his nose and the touch judge's too. I half expected the touch judge to come as the wrestle went on for far too long How about the supposed charge down near the end. If a player has his back to the ball protecting himself surely this is ball plays man not the other way round. The 2 Goole supporters in front of us we're convinced we were getting everything from the the ref in that game!!!???

My guess is Bradford will be hoping they make the cut of 12 or take the place of the club that drops out? Their publicised financial stability (or lack of it) over recent years, should ring alarm bells to the board that make the choice. Unless of course they have a former Chairman with current clout in the governing body.... Oh wait a minute!

I think he's a bit off the mark pinpointing the first half performance against Workington as the main issue (although I would agree it was woeful until Sykes came on). Has he forgotten about the Goole and Keighley results? As a coach to point the finger blame solely at the players is shameful. I was talking to someone with inside knowledge on the back room at the Rhinos earlier this week. Apparently Brad Arthur motivates unlike a few of his recent predecessors, love them or hate them you can see this in the Rhinos performances. I've said it before I think we have a decent set of lads with enough enthusiasms in the younger end and good experience elsewhere, but it's clear to me March isn't the motivator we need or has the ability to bring the kids on or accept or make the right change when things aren't going to plan.

Maybe we need a bit of coaching for that to happen??? -

I didn't go yesterday, but my lad did. His reflection of the game echo's that of others and what we keep seeing this season I've only been to a handful of games this time but from what I've seen we have a half decent set of lads willing to try and can play well at this level, just not for the full 80 We seem to lack the ability to be smart when it counts quite often. IMO with better coaching we have a side that is easily capable of being real contenders in this league, or a strong mid table in a combined Championship of 18 or so (if that's they way it goes) -
This is just ludicrous, the stadium and pitch facilities we're already there, surely the club has some justification to fight and appose further restrictions. Some folk are so offended and blinded by what's so plainly obvious it beggars belief. I don't suppose Kirklees Council were too bothered when passing planning applications for firstly the the pitches then secondly the housing, they should think back to that and say which came first?! Oh of course they won't when their raking in £2000 plus per household on the adjacent estates. Money talks!

Dewsbury Rams v Swinton Lions 15th September, KO: 15:00
muddyfunster replied to horbury ram's topic in Dewsbury Rams
Not capitalising on a 2 man advantage is concerning. Swinton were actually as easy to break as we were As soon as we had the ball in their 20 we went through them easy. Although we played in our own half for the 1st quarter of the game and their 3 score advantage was too much for a poor side to fully recover from This all points to the coaching IMO, some players are individually skillful others perform better as a team player. The coach needs to see this and create the game plan accordingly. It's their job to make sure it's either stuck to if it's working or have a leader on the park who can make the correct call or if not get message on and change it. March will be with us next season and like others he certainly wouldn't be my choice (I doubt there would be many other coaches who keep their job after 20 straight defeats). If we don't see 2 or 3 wins (or at least close competitive games) in the first 4 or 5 games next season then he has to go. Simples! -
My first visit to the old Crown Flatts would have been mid 80s vs Huddersfield. I remember my mate asking if I wanted to go to the rugby with him and his dad. Never been to a game before and I was hooked from that momenton, (good job he and his dad didn't go to mount unpleasant every week, otherwise I might have been a Batley fan ) I was also very lucky to get a run out on the ground of my then heroes, in a heavy woolen school boys cup final, although we got a good hiding from St John Fishers on that occasion.

Dewsbury Rams v Barrow Raiders 18th August, KO: 15:00
muddyfunster replied to horbury ram's topic in Dewsbury Rams
One worrying sign yesterday was hearing the team fratching amongst themselves when mistakes we're made. This is not a good look and sign of trouble within the dressing room from top to bottom. If March can't galvanise the side than we can recruit the best players we can afford but they will still play as a bunch of individuals and apportion blame elsewhere. -

I'm sure he very much cost us the game away at Widnes quite a few years back allowing them to score in the 7th play and win. Didn't see him for a while after that, but he definitely go his career back on track as I remember him taking charge of the CC final Hull vs Warrington, in as much as you hardly noticed him that day, and on the odd occasion you did he seemed to be 100% spot with his calls -

For the first time in I can't remember when, I will choose not to make the short trip over the Valley on Sunday. Just like you BSJ not that I have completely given up but I can't bear to see the same story unfold again and again. I wasn't going to go Bradford at home and changed my mind half an hour before ,the same with Doncaster (the latter actually proving to be slight just more enjoyable than others), only to be let down as usual and my hopes dashed once again. I doubt I will be a regular attendee at all the remaining home games now for this very reason and certainly won't be there for the Sheffield and Wakefield visits or any other away game for that matter. You'd think might get tough to it over the years (40 for me) but in honesty its the hope that kills you and it certainly has been doing just that this season -
Dewsbury Rams v Doncaster RLFC 07th July, KO: 15:00

Much better than previous weeks saw a full 80 minute shift from all the lads. Ferguson was outstanding lead from the front as did Sykes . We missed him when he went off. Unfortunately though the damaged has already been done. We are too far off the rest of the pack to survive in this division. Doncaster weren't good and we were in control only to be outplayed & lose in the second half, again. Can't blame the officials every week! As said many a time before by many responsibility must start at top an I do believe it's about our Chairman made some statement as to our long term plan, after all does it not worry him that away fans now outnumber home fans? We are the poor sods parting with our brass every week, and apart from yesterday only getting half a performance for our money. Come on Mark give us some hope or at least some clarity on the future of our once great and beloved club.
