Australia appoints World Cup chief

Recommended Posts

If he was the boss of the Asian Cup then he's a pretty good choice. They averaged crowds of nearly 20K - staggering when you consider some of the games: Uzbekistan v Nth Korea, Qatar v Bahrain, etc.

They also had TV deals right across Asia which could be fantastic for a RLWC. If this guy gets some of his old media negotiators back together they might be able to take RL to a massive new audience.

The last RWC in Oz was good (on the pitch at least), but I think everyone could see there was room for improvement.

This appointment shows that the Australians are taking it much more seriously next time around. Really good and encouraging news.
