  1. To be fair, when you have someone who contemplated their username and plumped for ‘unapologetic pedant’ you know you are in for some pretty detailed debate.
  2. I really don't know what to tell you. If you watch Rugby League but you don't think that players outnumbered on a shift play don't deliberately stop the passage of the ball to save a try scoring situation then I am not sure I can convince you. You may be in the camp that doesn't think their only priority is to break the play down and stop the attack - and in fact they are always going for a genuine intercept. If that's the case, good luck to you.
  3. Interesting you have used the one example in the last month to illustrate your point. I decided not to point out the dozens of examples I have seen of defenders deliberately slapping the ball down with no chance of retrieving it as I thought there was no point reopening the discussion.
  4. I'm with you. A couple of mistakes and a few missed opportunities from both sides. But that's the game and nowhere near the 'determined to lose' level.
  5. He is. Warrington just have some really good athletes - and young too. Ashton, Thewlis, Nicholson and more. They are so good.
  6. Yes. If you are in danger of taking an advantage then surrender (not a great look but it works I guess). But I don't think Hall took any advantage, no defenders were impeded.
  7. I think you are. But it is one of those that is always given these days. We have some things we are uber pedantic about and some things we let go. That is in the former.
  8. I think that is a fair decision. The tackle was high and the tackle was part of the reason why he (just) touched the line.
  9. I understand your point. But I absolutely lay some blame on the players and coaches as well... because they will point fingers at the opposition for something they do themselves. I think this problem is solved as much by the players and coaches, to say enough is enough, as much as it is the officials to get the calls right.
  10. My post after the one you quoted stated that I thought the video ref should have let play continue. But I have to say, you thinking the players don't bear any blame in try to win that penalty goes against much of what you have said on this subject.
