Salford (merged threads)

We've had nearly a year of this nonsense, what difference would one more week have made? The fixtures were released before the liquidation, presumably on the expectation they'd still be kicking the can down the road. Rushing through a new set of owners and new club is just setting them up for failure. Weren't these owners seen as saviours when they arrived? Rushed through without due diligence and look what has happened. We can't keep having clubs selling tickets and sponsorships then having to revise the terms because of teams pulling out or having fans and broadcasters feeling short changed because clubs are putting out shirt fillers just to go through the motions of a competitive games. A new Salford team can be put together but it needs to be done properly and I don't think starting the season next month and the time pressure that brings is conducive to building from proper foundations. -

I can't believe anyone is suggesting anything other than this. The idea that a bye in the first week would have given them the time required to sort the mess out is laughable. -
As usual there's nothing planned. They should have been selling tickets at these games for the next England fixture in this country but nobody has any sense of foresight or planning. There will have been people at Everton and Wembley attending for the first game leaving saying they enjoyed it, when is the next one, by the time it's arranged the moment is gone.

2026 Season Tickets/Memberships
Colin James replied to Damien's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Probably a lot of clubs outside SL not even got them on sale yet because we've been waiting to know what format the competition will take. -
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. There's no player left out who transforms this side into being better than Australia. The idea that one or two minor changes swapping one SL standard player for another would tip the balance is fanciful.

Wane getting slated but I don't think there's any combination of players he can pick that gets us to more than a 35% chance of victory. The player pool we have is weaker than it has ever been at the highest level relative to the benchmark. For the second test I suspect Smith will be back in, Wane wasn't happy with the end of set plays and I think he'll take 'Magic' Mikey out. Overall we played ok but we need to be close to perfect to have a chance and we weren't. Some positives but equally they were in second gear and still battered us.

The 14th placed team will be increasing their score by virtue of being in SL. Higher position, bigger crowds, bigger commercial opportunities. I think the three promoted teams would have to make a tremendous mess of things to lose any grading points. So it's Huddersfield, Cas or another Salford situation that London will be looking at.

End of next season? We don't know what's happening at the start of next season outside of SL.

Now's the time to lock in England v France
Colin James replied to Pulga's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
We will never have a solid international scene in the Northern Hemisphere without putting the work in. 2 teams in SL is a start. Play over there every year. Take women's, wheelchair and age group teams over so that it's a proper festival of rugby. -
Flabbergasted they made the right decision. Genuinely surprised, I was convinced TO would be shafted. Looks tough for London to increase their IMG score enough to get in next time though. The promoted teams will all score better next year naturally so who is it that is going to decline enough to finish below London? It's quite a gap to make up to Huddersfield and Cas
