  1. Referees don't understand what a knock-on is, it's a bizarre state of affairs but true. So much for being an entertainment sport when the officials stop play because of errors on their part.
  2. There's something wrong with our sport if that's a reason to stop the game. Officials are happy to blow the whistle for knock-ons that go backward, or simply a fumble where the ball goes backward in any case, or even a change of grip where possession is maintained. RL is supposed to be an entertainment sport, not a lottery where official incompetence is accepted. The hopeless officiating will ruin the game as an entertainment spectacle that people are willing to pay to watch. It can be sorted, but no-one is leading the fight for common sense and so referees get away with it. Why doesn't someone tell them what a knock-on is, as in the rules, and not what they want it to be?
  3. Yes. The Pie and Peas Mafia can't see it though. It's all about assumed numbers of away fans from Bradford, that's what concerns them. And keeping two struggling West Yorkshire clubs at the top table at whatever cost, even though it dilutes the public image of the game by having them there. Still, clubs can now buy 10 overseas players to add to their roster, because there's so few decent quality players available to make up the numbers. Which makes extending the top division by two clubs with only a few weeks notice, a mockery of both common sense and good business practise. These are decisions from the people who are running our sport. The train crash is coming.
  4. Yes, it's as though the referee expects the English to infringe but doesn't even consider the Aussies are doing the same. Confirmation bias.
  5. Warmsley dropping the ball...who would have thought it?
  6. What happened with the previous officers? Had enough, resigned, or new blood wanting to take over?
  7. Do you think the RFL is going to do this??
  8. The M62 Pies and Peas League. Games streamed on MySpace.
  9. I was alluding to the broadcaster mentioned in the article (DAZN) and then Netflix and the southern hemisphere tstations already on board with the NRL. Who knows what or who Sky will support? Union has only 10 teams, and one of those is a basket case, yet TNT and ITV seem happy with that and they get loads of airtime. Let's see what get reported this week.
  10. The six clubs previously mentioned in the article, the two French clubs, and London obviously, would be a winning hand for NRL and the broadcasters. Complete administrative control after two years? The remaining 6 SL clubs of course would never vote for that outcome, so it will have to be imposed, or forgotten.
  11. The Kangeroos were hard as nails, exceptionally alert and skillful, and had a very successful strategy to win the contest. England were hard as nails too, but less skilled and clearly misdirected in their gameplan. Beaten by the better side. Anyone that plays at this level has my total respect. I think expectations of an England resurgence were overly high in many instances. My expectation was much lower and consequently I'm not disappointed with the result. Sad and frustrated, but not angry. To be competitive, we need to increase the available player pool and expand the footprint....which doesn't mean adding more M62 clubs to the top table and generally ignoring development elsewhere. Man cannot discover new horizons, until he looks away from the shore.
  12. Well, Wane cannot pick that line-up again, every man and his dog knows they clearly aren't up for it after that showing. The 'credit in the bank' excuse won't wash anymore. Also, surely the end of Wane being the selector-in-chief after this drubbing.
  13. ....because Walsh was driving into him! Bateman was stationary, Walsh was worming into him.
