OLDHAM coach Alan Kilshaw is hoping a growing band of supporters will back the club’s bid for play-off glory.
Kilshaw has been more than happy with the faithful who have got behind his side at various venues this year.
And with three of the four remaining regular-season fixtures at Boundary Park – against Sheffield (on Sunday), London Broncos and Salford – before the end-of-the-month derby at Rochdale, he’d be delighted by even bigger gates.
The Roughyeds, now under the ownership of a consortium including former players Terry Flanagan and Martin Hall, registered a 16th straight league win by beating Barrow 28-16 in their fifth match back at Boundary Park after a May resolution to their previous dispute with landlords Oldham Athletic Football Club.
That led to the first seven homes matches in all competitions this year being played at Stalybridge Celtic Football Club’s Bower Fold.
Meanwhile Oldham moved their June clash against Batley to Dewsbury’s FLAIR Stadium because Boundary Park was unavailable.
“We’ve had great backing wherever we have played, and the fans really helped us get over the line against Barrow,” said Kilshaw.
“It’s great to be back in Oldham and be giving the town something to be proud about, and with three home games coming up, we’d like to see even more coming down and enjoying watching us.”
Oldham’s “remarkable” win streak finally came to an end at Doncaster on Sunday with a 46-18 defeat, and Kilshaw reflected: “Very few of them have come easily.
“It’s been a tough old slog, particularly for a part-time team, and I think we’ve shown some great resilience.
“But we’re also very aware that we’re getting to the business end now and that there are some significant challenges coming our way.”
