HULL KR head coach Willie Peters is under no illusions about the challenge his side faces at Castleford Tigers on Friday night.
The Tigers will be without head coach Ryan Carr in the dugout due to ‘personal reasons’, with the club confirming that assistant Scott Murrrell, director of pathways Rob Nickolay and director of rugby Chris Chester would instead tend to the first-team duties.
Club legend Adrian Vowles will also lend his support, having recently arrived in the UK for a trip from Australia.
Castleford have taken a number of scalps during the 2026 Super League season even when not playing at their best, with wins over Wigan Warriors, St Helens and league leaders Leeds Rhinos surprising the rest of the teams in the division.
The Tigers are always a formidable opposition on their home turf, and Peters knows that his side will have to be on their game if they are to return to Hull with a victory.
“We respect Castleford and what they are capable of,” said the Robins boss.
“We know at home that it is always a challenging game because it’s a tight stadium with a shorter field and their fans get behind the team.
“We will have 1,500-odd supporters that will be there and be nice and loud for us so we will focus on what we can control.
“We don’t know what Castleford team will turn up this week, but we know we need to be at our best to beat them.”
