JOHN CARTWRIGHT says there was no lack of effort from his Catalans Dragons as the French side seek some consistency to finish the season.
Their 28-10 defeat at Hull KR was a seventh in eight games while they haven’t won in England since Cartwright’s first game as head coach, against York Knights in May.
“I think we started the game with a lack of belief, but there was a lot of good intent,” said Cartwright.
“We didn’t make it hard enough for them and they went in for the three tries (in the opening 20 minutes). We struggled to score but we grew as a team.
“The trouble is we haven’t been consistent week-on-week, but we will try to be for the rest of the year.
“We threw a lot at them and if we could have got to within ten points of them we would have had a chance.
“The second half saw plenty of effort and this is important as a team, but the effort goes in (whether we) win or lose.”
