CASTLEFORD TIGERS have confirmed the permanent signing of Leigh Leopards’ Ben McNamara on a two-year deal.
The 25-year-old is currently on loan at the OneBore Stadium from Leigh, where he has spent the past three seasons after coming through the ranks at Hull FC.
He has been unable to establish himself as a first-team regular at either club but provides an option at halfback or hooker.
McNamara’s signing follows that of another playmaker, Mason Lino from neighbours Wakefield Trinity.
“Ben offers us some real versatility, being able to play at both the nine position and in the halves,” explained Castleford director of rugby Chris Chester.
“He will give us some depth in the squad, and we’re excited about what he can bring to our playing group.”
McNamara, who was loaned to the Tigers last month, said: “Everyone has been welcoming so I’m looking forward to making the move to Castleford full-time.”
