MASON LINO will make the short hop across West Yorkshire to join Castleford Tigers.
The 32-year-old has penned a two-year deal with the Tigers following his departure from Wakefield Trinity, who confirmed the experienced halfback would be one of seven players to leave the club at the end of the season.
Wakefield coach Daryl Powell explained that his exit was partly down to salary cap restrictions, whilst both youngsters Jack Sinfield and Myles Lawford are waiting in the wings to take over in the position.
Samoan-born Lino began his career in the NRL, where he turned out for both New Zealand Warriors and Newcastle Knights before establishing himself as a proven performer in the British game.
He has made over 120 appearances for Wakefield, for whom he has scored more than 450 points, and won the Championship League Leaders’ Shield, Grand Final and 1895 Cup in a 2024 treble.
But his season has been hampered by injuries, which have restricted him to just 10 appearances so far this season for play-off bound Trinity.
Castleford Director of rugby Chris Chester is delighted to have secured the services of the halfback, who has become known for his kicking game, composure and game management, as the club rebuilds after a disappointing 2026.
“Mason is a very smart rugby league player with a great kicking game,” said Chester.

“I know how much Mason is looking forward to coming to Castleford and I know the impact he will have too on the playing group.”
