Zeus Silk becomes Brett Ferres’ first Goole Vikings signing

GOOLE VIKINGS coach Brett Ferres has completed his first signing in Midlands forward Zeus Silk, with another Hull FC product, versatile back Callum Shaw, agreeing a contract extension for 2027.

Silk, 28, has penned terms to 2028 after completing two seasons at Midlands.

After his professional career stalled, he returned to the community game with West Hull before in 2024 having stints at Featherstone, then Dewsbury.

“Goole are an ambitious club and I’m ready to play my part in their development,” he said.

“They’ve done such a great job in a small space of time and we want to help them take that step to the next level.

“My ambition is to help put Vikings on the map and make this a really difficult place for opposition teams to come and play.

“Being more local to my home, it also means I’ll get more time to spend with my family, which is really important to me.”

Ferres added: “Zeus is a great signing for us. He’ll add a lot to the group and brings some attributes we have probably been missing at times.

“He’s full of energy, he focuses on those effort areas and he plays hard and tough. He’s gritty, no-nonsense and trains hard – everything we want in our playing group.

“Zeus can knock out big minutes and he’s the sort of player who makes the lads around him look better.”
