Former stars return for testimonial Hull derby

A HOST of Rugby League favourites are set to return to the field when Hull FC stalwart Brad Fash and Hull KR’s former star Kris Welham come together for a special testimonial derby at Sewell Group Craven Park this Sunday 11 October.

The one-off fixture will see former players from both sides of Hull’s Rugby League divide reunite to celebrate Fash and Welham, who have each given more than a decade of service to the game.

The two testimonial stars will lead teams packed with familiar names, giving supporters a rare opportunity to see former Black and Whites and Robins players back in action.

Fash, 30, who is one of several players who will be leaving Hull FC now the season has ended, made his Hull debut as a teenager off the bench in the club’s 21-18 victory against Castleford Tigers on 12 July 2015.

Between then and 2026 he played 203 games for Hull, scoring six tries, while also having loan spells with Doncaster (four appearances), Leigh (eight appearances and Toronto Wolfpack (two appearances).

Welham, 39, made his debut for Hull KR on the wing against Leigh on 6 August 2006.

He would go on to play 191 games for the Robins scoring 102 tries and two goals.

He left the club at the end of 2015 to join Bradford Bulls, spending one season at Odsal before having four seasons with Salford. He then joined Sheffield Eagles in 2022 and spent four seasons with the South Yorkshire club before retiring at the end of the 2025 season.

The match kicks off at 1.00pm and Welham’s squad includes Jason Netherton, Peter Fox, Scott Murrell, Ian Morrison, Brad Clavering, Frankie Mariano, Scott Spaven, Connor Bower, Anthony Thackeray, Kieran Dixon, Jon Aston, Chris Charles and Scott Wheeldon.

Welham’s brothers, Liam and Matty Welham, will also feature.

Fash’s side will include Danny Washbrook, Jack Logan, Kirk Yeaman, Marc Sneyd and Masi Matongo, with further names expected to be announced ahead of the game.

“Hull derbies always mean a huge amount to supporters, and this will be a brilliant opportunity to celebrate both clubs, the rivalry and some of the players who have given fans so many memories over the years,” said Fash.

“It is a privilege to share the occasion with Kris as part of our testimonial years. We have got some fantastic names involved, and we hope as many supporters as possible will come along, get behind the event and make it a really special afternoon.”

Kris Welham said: “This is going to be a really special occasion and I cannot wait to get back to Craven Park with so many former team-mates, friends and familiar faces.

“To have Liam and Matty involved as well makes it even more meaningful for me and my family. There are some brilliant players confirmed already, and we are looking forward to seeing supporters from both sides of the city come together and enjoy a great day.”

Tickets for the game, priced at £12 for adults and £6 for children, are available online through the Hull KR ticketing website, by telephone on 0330 058 4557, or with cash payment on the day.
