Dan Abram and Brad Holroyd among four Swinton Lions signings

SWINTON LIONS have brought goal-kicking playmaker Dan Abram back to the club amid a flurry of signings and the retention of backrower Deane Meadows.

Winger Brad Holroyd has joined from Keighley Cougars, versatile back Lloyd Roby from Halifax Panthers and prop prospect Layton Jupp from Leigh Leopards.

Meadows, 32, is set for the third season of his second spell at Swinton after originally playing for them in 2021 and 2022 before moving on to Oldham, then Rochdale Hornets.

Meanwhile Abram (pictured), who will be 31 on November 11, has had a year at Hunslet after being with Swinton from 2022 to 2025, playing 82 times and contributing 24 tries and 250 goals.

Having come through the St Helens system, he started his senior career at Barrow Raiders before stints at Whitehaven, Rochdale and Oldham.

Abram has made more than 220 career appearances and Swinton coach Anthony Murray said: “Dan brings a wealth of experience and gives great versatility, being able to play at fullback as well as in the halves. He also has has an impressive goal-kicking record.”

Holroyd, the ex-Leigh, Rochdale, Workington Town and Widnes Vikings man who was loaned to Swinton from the Vikings in 2022, notched 16 tries in 27 Keighley outings this year.

“We felt it was important to bolster our outside backs with some experience, and Brad fits that bill perfectly,” added Murray, whose side finished 17th this year.

Roby, 27, has also played for Widnes (two spells), Keighley and North Wales Crusaders, and Murray said: “Lloyd has the know-how and game-management skills to help us turn some of those close games which slipped away into wins.”

Teenager Jupp made a loan appearance for Widnes this year and Murray predicted: “As we help him continue his development, I’m confident he’ll be a great addition to our pack.”
