KIERAN HUDSON is among five further players who will depart York Knights.
The frontrower, who joined York ahead of the 2025 season from Castleford Tigers after previous spells with Newcastle Thunder, the then-Midlands Hurricanes and Whitehaven, scored twice in 21 appearances for Mark Applegarth’s side.
Having seen his time at the club blighted by injury, he found game time hard to come by in 2026, making just three Super League appearances for York – including against the Tigers – and four on loan at Newcastle Thunder.
Fellow forward Justin Sangaré departs York after just one season with the club.
The French prop arrived from the then-Salford Red Devils with plenty of promise, but never lived up to it in the black and amber, making 13 substitute appearances and featuring four times for Newcastle.
Australians Ryan Jackson, Jordan Lipp and John Sagaga have also been released as the club juggles quota spots.
Outside back Lipp, who made the move to York from Norths Devils, featured just once for the club, in pre-season against Huddersfield Giants.
Able to turn out at fullback, halfback or in the centres, he struggled for chances in Super League but was one of the standouts for Thunder, for whom he scored 21 tries in 29 appearances.
Jackson also made an impression for York’s partner club, scoring six tries in 24 appearances and establishing himself as a rangy, running forward after arriving in the UK from Central Queensland Capras.
Sagaga broke new ground in the Minster city as the first player to make the move from a partnership with NRL heavyweights Penrith Panthers.
A product of the Panthers’ youth set up, the front-rower or hooker made 21 appearances for Newcastle and was an unused 18th man for York’s defeat at Leeds Rhinos in February.
The club said it “would like to place on record its sincere gratitude to all of our departing players for their hard work, commitment and contribution during their time at the club and wish them, and their families, every success for the future.”
The quintet follow Will Dagger, Danny Richardson and Oldham-bound Ata Hingano out of the club, while Paul Vaughan has retired.
