BARROW RAIDERS prospect Fin Dutton-Rosconie is ready to fulfil his potential at his hometown club.
The 21-year-old hooker, who impressed over three appearances in May and June, has signed his first professional deal.
The product of community club Barrow Island, where he has also been playing this year, and the Furness Raiders youth development system (a collaboration between the professional club and a local college) had offers from elsewhere.
But he wants to keep progressing under respected Raiders coach Paul Crarey, and explained: “I grew up watching Barrow with my family.
“As a young kid, all I wanted to do was get the chance to represent my hometown club, and now that dream is coming true. I want to carry on the hard work and see what we can achieve together.
“All the lads have been fantastic, the coaches have been great, and I feel like this environment is where I’ll develop best as a player.
“Other clubs were interested, but right now, I feel like Barrow is the perfect fit for me.
“I’ll keep learning off everyone at the club and try to develop with every training session and every game, and see where it takes me.”
Crarey said: “We want to bring through our own. Fin’s been great since arriving as an amateur and worked so hard to get his shot in the first team. Players like him are the future of this club.”
Director of rugby Andy Gaffney added: “Fin may be young, but he isn’t afraid to mix it with players of far greater size and reputation. He has already shown why we value him so highly.
“He has fitted into the group really well, and I’m confident he will be another success story for our youth pathway.”
