Barrow Raiders player-coach Bobbie Goulding has slammed the RFL for its decision to hire a referee from cross-county rivals Whitehaven in yesterday’s loss to Doncaster.
The former Great Britain star, who sensationally made a return to the professional game recently aged 42, following nearly a decade out, was sent off in stoppage time after confronting a linesman and was dissatisfied with the officials’ performance throughout the game.
“To send a referee from Whitehaven is not on,” he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
“I was really worried about the game and the officials in it. I spoke to my chairman and asked him to come and have a word, I was that bothered.
“I don’t know why I got sent off, it’s a joke. Dan Toll got a yellow card for fighting and I got sent-off for asking the touch judge what it was for.
“Can’t you speak to these officials anymore? This is why the game is going backwards.”
