Bradford Bulls continue to strengthen pack with Halifax Panthers star

BRADFORD BULLS have made their fourth front-row addition of the week by signing Brandon Douglas from Halifax Panthers.

Douglas, 28, returns to Super League following eight seasons establishing himself as a leading figure in the lower divisions.

After making just a single first-team appearance with first club Castleford Tigers and leaving at the end of 2018, Douglas has featured for Doncaster, Sheffield Eagles and, for the past two seasons, Halifax.

He scored eight tries in 24 Panthers appearances this year and has signed a two-year deal with neighbouring Bradford ahead of their Super League return.

It’s a dream move for Douglas, a Bulls season-ticket holder as a child, as he joins Eribe Doro (Hull KR), Loghan Lewis (Salford Red Devils) and Will Gardiner (Hull FC) as newcomers to the Bradford pack.

He said: “The ambition of most is to challenge themselves at the highest level and that opportunity has come available now.

“I have got plenty of rugby experience, I am 28 and moving into the prime of my career and this is a big challenge for me, the club and for everyone involved.

“Everyone has the right ambition and are saying the right things and hopefully we can gel together and thrive in this environment.

“I am hopeful this will unlock new levels to my game, being in a Super League full-time environment.”

New Bradford coach Kurt Haggerty said: “Brandon is a prime example of us as a club doing our homework.

“He’s been one of the best prop forwards in the Championship for the last three or four years and he’s got a huge reputation.

“I’m really excited to see where his journey can go. He’s at the prime age to kick on and learn what he needs to learn to make it as a full-time Super League player.”
