Bradford Bulls stars set for return as Carl Forster explains new coaching role

BRADFORD BULLS assistant coach Carl Forster has hinted there could be some big returnees for the club for Friday’s clash against York Knights.

The Bulls go into their fixture against the Knights with just two points separating the two teams, with Bradford in 11th and York in 12th.

But with both sides suffering something of an injury crisis in the first half of the 2026 campaign, the Bulls will finally welcome back some experience.

“Ryan Sutton and Joe Mellor have trained fully and they will have to back that up the rest of the week,” Forster said.

“Andy Ackers is back training so we have had a lot of experience out there.”

It is Forster’s first coaching gig in Super League, having joined in the off-season after winning the League One title with North Wales Crusaders, and he is relishing the challenge as well as the different role on the sidelines.

“We came up with a system where someone would do the role on the sidelines and then me and Greeny (fellow assistant Lee Greenwood) would flip,” he explained.

“I love being on the sidelines, you’re in direct contact with the players and the head coach.

“There is a lot of trust in the coaching staff that the message will get delivered word for word.

“It’s different for me coming from being a head coach at a lower-grade club because you are learning new things every week.

“You are working with Super League players and it’s something I really enjoy doing.”
