League Express understands a deal for Catalan Dragons to bring controversial Australian halfback Todd Carney to Super League is in the offing, after the Dragons confirmed they were in talks with the former Sydney and Cronulla star.
Carney was sacked by the Sharks earlier this season for an off-field incident – the third time he has been let go in his career. And, although there is believed to have been interest from a number of English-based Super League clubs about the services of the New South Wales star, it looks like Carney is destined to end up in the South of France with the Dragons.

It is believed the Dragons have tabled a lengthy four-year deal for the services of the 28-year-old, with him joining in time for the beginning of the 2015 season.
“I would definitely like the deal to be done, but that is not the case at the moment,” said Catalan coach Laurent Frayssinous.
“We are in contact with his manager and we hope that it will happen, but unfortunately the information being talked about is wrong and the information I have read is wrong also. He is a very good player, one of the best halves in the world and it would be awesome if we can bring in a guy like Todd Carney.”
