Danny Brough’s son primed for Super League debut after more Leigh Leopards injuries

WILL BROUGH, the son of Super League stalwart Danny Brough, is being primed for his debut on Saturday as Leigh Leopards get ready to take on Warrington Wolves.

The Leopards suffered another two injuries in the nailbiting win over Toulouse Olympique last Saturday with both Tesi Niu (knee) and Jack Hughes (ankle) unlikely to take to the field against Warrington.

That being said, Leigh’s forward pack will be bolstered by the return of Cronulla Sharks-bound Owen Trout and Joe Ofahengaue.

“There’s doubt over Tesi Niu and Jack Hughes. They are highly unlikely to play as we speak,” Lam said.

“I think Owen Trout and Joe Ofahengaue come back in the picture but there’s no Keanan Brand, Edwin Ipape or Umyla Hanley. We lose two and gain two.

“It’s hard work, everyone is doing their best but to see Tesi and Jack not train today and players we were hoping to come back being delayed is hard work.

“I’ve been in this position four or five times in my Super League career. We’ve got to take each day as it comes.”

Asked who could come in for Niu, Lam replied: “I’m not sure at the moment. We’ve got AJ Towse who will be another week out injured. Him, Hanley and Brand are still out.

“Will Brough hasn’t made his debut yet so he will come into the picture there. He’s probably the next one in now.

“He’s had a couple of pre-seasons with us now and he’s had a few long-term injuries as well which hasn’t helped.

“We will give him all the support we can give him. He’s a good lad and very popular with the group.

“There’s a rugby league player in there that I’m looking forward to seeing him in there. He can play.”
