Dewsbury Rams sign Bailey O’Connor from Featherstone Rovers

BAILEY O’CONNOR has returned to Dewsbury Rams after his previous club Featherstone Rovers were removed from the Championship.

The versatile 23-year-old was contracted to Featherstone for next season but has secured a fresh home after the club were denied RFL membership last Friday.

He made his first move into the professional game with the Rams ahead of the 2023 season, joining from Lock Lane following a trial.

In two seasons at Dewsbury, the first of which they ended as League One champions, O’Connor played 39 times, chiefly at fullback or centre with occasional appearances at halfback or hooker.

He left for Featherstone ahead of last season and played 17 games, mostly at centre.

Dewsbury coach Paul March said: “Bailey is a highly-rated player whose skill, versatility and work ethic make him a real asset to our squad.

“We’re excited to have him back and can’t wait to see him make an impact.”

O’Connor is Dewsbury’s eighth signing for the new season, which they begin away to Hunslet this Sunday.
