NINE months to the day since he last played for Doncaster, Loui McConnell made a successful comeback from injury in last Sunday’s 78-8 win over Salford.
The 26-year-old hadn’t featured since the 25-25 draw with Whitehaven last June due to an ongoing back problem, so he was understandably delighted to pull on the boots again.
And now his aim is to retain a spot in coach Richard Horne’s side and play his part in a successful Dons season.
“It’s been tough as I have been suffering with a bulging disc in my back,” explained McConnell following his comeback.
“But it’s finally getting there now and it was just great to get back out there with the boys. It’s been a long nine months and I just loved getting back out there with them.
“It’s been really frustrating as well, because watching on you want to be a part of what we’re doing here at Doncaster, you want to be a part of the team.
“Hopefully now I can earn my spot and continue to playing well and help the boys out where I can. They’ve been doing a good job already, and if I can just add to that then I’m happy.”
