  1. No they didn’t. I was a season ticket holder and it was league games only
  2. Problem is Mike is talking common sense again, something that doesn’t seem to apply to many clubs! He is correct though, clubs need to support clubs such as Newcastle. Excluding Cornwall from the 1895 cup is total madness! Why didn’t the RFL help London Skolars? I know clubs should manage themselves better, but these clubs are called our expansion clubs and should be supported accordingly. Established clubs should be looking for better income streams rather than bleeding the Sky money. There are too many second rate overseas players on high salaries. We should be actively developing our own players through academies which every club should run. Not a select few. How mad was it stopping Leigh having one last season? As a condition of getting the Sky payment every club should have to employ two development officers. One for their own town/ city and one for another area supporting the game in general.
  3. How can you include the Law cup in your season ticket? It is a shared gate
  4. But that is why we are failing. Clubs need to work harder and aim higher rather than rely on handouts. If we were achieving this it would then make it more attractive to TV and hopefully increase that revenue stream
  5. Maybe 18 though. Getting around £750k funding then working to promote their club and build their attendances try and aim for 10k attendances. That would generate say £120k per match so say £2.04m. Add sponsorship, corporate funding, lotteries etc and then you are starting to set a self sufficient product
  6. Interesting to read on the Batley forum that their Chairman Kevin Nicholson says they are expecting a £35k reduction on funding but could be more and in essence that would be really bad for them. Expecting to run a smaller squad and rely on DR. No wonder they were so protective and didn’t want a larger Championship
  7. What meeting? Thought Frank was rowing the Atlantic?
  8. They sound in a bad way when you read the article. When you get to the end they leave it bed dry much up in the air. If I was a fan, I could would be pretty concerned
  9. The club announced at the forum that the first game would be against a big Championship club
  10. Also we will be playing loop matches with Hornets so I doubt there will be Derby fixtures
  11. I was said at the forum that we would play our first group match against a big championship team at Boundary Park?
  12. Made me smile though, Wakefield supposedly have a big new investor, yet needs to do DR?
  13. Champions promotion spot 1 - playoff for other teams 2-6
  14. The room was packed last night, and some were having to stand at the back. The players had met up before the forum. All turned out in their new smart polo shirts. Elijah Taylor spoke eloquently He said the players had met up, had a meal, had a good chat, got given their kit bags with all their gear in it. To have all this before training starts says much about how the club is presenting itself. When the photo of the players sat there last night is on the website you will see how smart they looked. Bill Quinn said club sponsorship was up 7 fold on last year.
  15. I have said previously, the transparency from the board is a breath of fresh air.
  16. I believe the latest date the RFL will issue their verdict is tomorrow. they clubs need to know what is happening so they can get season tickets on sale, conclude shirt production (for the team and reproduction)
  17. But if it is a “predictable “ problem, they are now four weeks since their season ended and they haven’t yet secured sufficient funding to pay these wages. It really don’t sound good nor does it sound like good management. It does sound like their owners are struggling to find the cash.
  18. John, it’s a good job a certain poster was banned last week otherwise this would have been the largest thread ever
  19. I believe most clubs contracts run until either end October or November
  20. Yes he did! He was a great guy. Just before he joined us I was privileged to do a coaching course at Lilleshall with him, Dave Finch and Mick Morgan among others. Learned more off them than Albert Fearnley et al
