  1. Because its work in progress. Too often RL has not looked at the big picture. The Alexandra stadium warm up pitch will do for 2023. As has been stated above the Hurricanes made a pretty good fist of Sundays event. I have been to a lot worse places to see "Pro" RL Anyone who has followed lower league over the last few years may have visited Sheffield, York, Oldham, Oxford, Hemel, S. Wles and Newcastle to name but some . A lot of those teams that have had to endure some pretty ropey home venues before some of them ended up in modern stadiums..
  2. I use this to check what's on tv https://www.rugbyleagueontv.com/
  3. I had a bit of problem renewing but have bit the bullet for the monthly option so that I can cancel at the season end
  4. They have emailed me today to say that my subscription has lapsed but no offer of a discount. They have told me to phone them so perhaps they are going to offer me one then. Has any one been offered anything?
  5. If the "beer" was cold and the bar was warm and light. If there was an option to have a clean glass and was served by a bar person. Factor that in too.
  6. This really will be a game changer. If and when we follow suit RL will fundamentally have to change and that might not be a bad thing Tackling below the waist will give the attacker more oportunity to off load in the tackle and fewer "play the balls". If this happens, the game will get even faster, so this might be the time to revert to the 5 metre defensive line.
  7. I'm up for it. I might need to change some appointments and I am not sure if I can drive.
  8. I left school when I was 15. Kids today have to stay at school until they are 18. If I had had to study maths for those 5 years it wouldn't have made a bit of difference to me. ( Well it made me laugh)
  9. On balance I have to agree with you Rach. Portway for the Hurricanes for the Bears Old Coventrians, Barkers Butts and Bedworth ru clubs were generally welcoming. But there were usually one or two members at those clubs that showed their dislike. Coventry RU were instrumental in getting the Bears up and running with Keith Fairbrother and Ian Carvel being especially helpful. It was when the " Old Guard" that took over the club that their true colours emerged.
  10. They didnt leave. They were driven out of Coventry. A combination of a greedy ru club and an apethic council. Birmingham Council have done more in 12 months than Coventry did in 24 years.
  11. What? Are you telling me you are not? Is it because you have a hard life?
  12. Another Rugby league club Birmingham Bulldogs have been playing for about 30 years in Birmingham
  13. So you are the only one on here that has a certificate to prove you are sane.
  14. The best thing about York is that's its the next county over from Lancashire.
  15. 1) Close to the M62? Absolutely it's only 1 Street away. 2) Will it have a railway station? No. It has 2 - New Street and Snow Hill 3) As for the meat pies probably not. Midlanders tend to replace the proper accompaniment meat filling (potato) with gravy.( heathens)
  16. I remember going to Normandy a few years ago having been to other areas of France. It struck me how very English it looked...then I realised in fact it was England that looked Norman
  17. Quite right. And even better, I can introduce you the very man at the RFL who will take your cheque to pay for it. As a further plus I can tell you that are the only one in the queue of applicants.
  18. Coventry Bears first ever professional game was at Oldham in the CC. He was officiating despite having been an Oldham player. I was timekeeping along with the Oldham timekeeper who had the control of the hooter. As the halftime hooter went Oldham were winning 6-0. Oldham had the ball and were allowed to play the ball. The ball was passed out to their wing. It was clear he was allowing them to continue. As it happens there was a match commissioner at the game who demanded the the hooter was blown again. It duly was, but Oldham were allowed to finish the set and they scored and Bloem allowed it. 10-0 to Oldham. As he took the ball from our captain he said " I didn't hear the first hooter'. Our captain said "if you didn't hear the first hooter how did you know there were two? He didn't reply. After that January muddy game to add insult to injury there was NO water to wash in and both sets of players and match officials went home filthy.
