  1. More to the point dont leave your car in wavertree.
  2. I agree….midlands are earning their success….good luck to you/them.
  3. He has been dropped for this weekends game, and allegedly not popular among some of his team mates despite the fact that some of them left their previous clubs when more money was on the table.
  4. How can you be doing this secretly when you have just told the 300,000 people who read this site
  5. Helped by contrast with the worst kit ever…the penrith chocolate soldiers.
  6. …and now a liberal party commitment to up that to $6m for redevelopment of stadium in Cairns…handy for The occasional PNG NRL game?
  7. And at a time when the WA AFL teams are struggling results wise. The WCE couldnt beat an egg and their ‘one forthe ages’ top draft pick who they were building theit team around, is playing like he wants out.
  8. The best intermission entertainment I have experienced was at the Detroit Pistons NBA game. It was a bit of a p*ss take on the NBA cheerleaders/danceteams. Everything at the pistons games is ‘auto themed’ and this was a bunch of very large african american blokes in skin tight vests and shorts and pom poms dancing under the name of “ The Spare Tyres”. It had 20,000 fans rolling in the aisles.
  9. And none of those hated ticket fees….if only that could be extended to all games.
  10. It was 59,708. There was a double header (Manly v Knights, Dragons v Eels)to open Stadium Australia ( the olympic stadium) which had over 104,000.
  11. The bio details for Darcy seem to be taken from the Cornwall website when Darcy signed for them. However, although he appears to have been part of the Brisbane tigers (Queensland Cup) organisation he is not listed on the clubs all time player list. It appears that he played for the Carina Tigers in 2023, Brisbane Tigers farm team who play in the 7 team Brisbane rugby league, a tier below the Queensland Cup. He played 7 games for Carina in 2023 in second row and centres. There is a short video on you tube, looks like the sort of thing prepared by an agent, showing clips of him in games playing for Carina and for Cairns brothers in the Far North Queensland league where he played in 2022.
  12. Yes, same with Hornets, regularly played Batley, Bramley, Dewsbury and Doncaster. Have to go back to 1950s to find them playing Leeds, Cas, wakefield, hunslet, featherstone or either Hull team.
  13. Reynolds wont be leaving brisbane….even if he isnt signed to play. He will be part of Broncos organisation.
  14. Anyone desrves a pass for a friday teatime game. They really are for Foxtel viewers only and that some teams get more of them than others seems a bit rough to me. In looking at crowds over the season perhaps worth comparing thursday night games with home teams other crowds at the same venue. Of course Id exclude Warriors from that.
  15. Dragons was the Friday teatime game. Aside from when Warriors given that slot (which is prime time in NZ) they tend to select the lesser games of the weekend for that slot so double jeapordy.
  16. Be careful. For some big games the barcode changes prior to the game to reduce chance of touting. You should be able to click on the information to see if it allows you to forward the ticket to someone else. I would try to call them as opposed to e mail. I doubt you will get a refund but they might be able to give you options for transferring the tickets. Looking at my tickets it doesnt look like there is an option to forward or transfer tickets.
  17. Memory playing tricks? The one division era had all teams west of pennines playing each other home and away and four teams from the opposite side of the pennines home and away. The same for teams west of the pennines. Only the cross pennine games were based on league position. So Hornets played Wigan, Saints, Warrington etc every season and very rarely played Leeds, Wakefield or Castleford.
  18. I was at the Ipswich jets v png hunters game today. Before the game the Ipswich leadership handed a mike to the Liberal National party candidate for Ipswich ( Blair constituency) who announced that should the LNP win the election they will commit $5m to infrastructure to upgrade the ipswich ground to support an NRL expansion bid for Ipswich. The funds would be for an NRL compliant video screen and replace the existing covered stand. So the expansion bid would be based on them staying at the cricket ground ( JG Stephenson Oval). The three quarters of the oval is a grass bank ( not big enough to be called a hill) and I counted 14 mature trees on this bank (not at the back of the bank but among the spectators) The current stand is several rows of aluminium benches. Apart from that there is the cricket pavilion and a relatively new corporate facility which has a few rows of tip up seats at the front and inside facilities behind glass. This is located at 3rd man ( or the corner of the rugby field) so not a great view for corporate clients at rugby. I cannot see how this could meet the requirements of an NRL side…but then its probably just an attempt to get a few votes. I cannot see NRL admitting a team playing on an oval. So it probably means they would plan to play most or all of their home games at Suncorp. ( There were games at Suncorp on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this weekend). So where is the point of a replacement stand and NRL videoscreen at what would be a training facility? There is no way the facility could be turned into anything resembling dolphin stadium and dolphins have already reduced the number of home games they play there. Ipswich is an hours train ride south west of brisbane ( redcliffe is an hours train ride north of brisbane).
  19. Yes, I agree. SOO was a wonderful event there ( apart from the score!). Also saw a wonderful Bledisloe Cup game there. For some reason it doesnt feel like its an oval when you are among a full house.
  20. Maybe playing a regular fixture list would help. No games again this weekend. Well apart from Workington v Cornwall according to the RFLs official site. I hope Mr Wood takes in that game as part of his strategic review!
  21. According to RFL.com the game is still on tomorrow. Maybe someone should invite Mr Wood….
  22. Another busy weekend in league 1. No games. Though the RFL official site still has Workington playing cornwall. Too much to expect them to know Cornwall finished.
  23. Used to cross Rochdale canal on my way home from games at the old Athletic Grounds. Had to stop many a time after a bad home defeat to pull fellow hornets fans out.
  24. Easter wont seem the same this year without you visiting. A day in chemical alley wont come anywhere near a trip across tandle hill. Gone but not forgotten.
  25. I agree, we shouldnt expect the club to be making announcements on a fans forum although you do a good job of posting club announcements on here. But do the club believe in communicating with the public? I am sure the club officials dont want each individual fan contacting them separately with the same or similar questions. I havent seen anything about the players who made way for the Oldham boys or the recently unretired Taira on twitter or the club website. Are we struggling with injuries or were those players rested for the Oldham lads a”coaches decision” as they say?
