  1. Havent had to switch games to Tugun for a while. Major pitch renovations at Piggabeen over the summer….pitch was looking great at the weekend but major problem is the creek that runs by. Doesnt take much rain for it to flood the low lying ground.
  2. Impressive list….next time you are in brisbane you must tick off Albert Bishop Park (The ‘Bish’ home of norths) and the newly renovated Langlands Park (easts tigers) both easy to get to. You could also expand to the Brisbane League with Emerson Park (Valleys) and Frank Lind Oval (wests panthers)…iconic names from the past. But by far the ‘not to be missed’ ground is Ron Stark oval at Dunwich on North Stradebrook island - home to the Straddie Sharks. Catch the ferry from Cleveland. Wynnum Manly take one Q cup game there every year. Right by the ocean with a large hill, leagues club, large trees providing shade and stunning views. You wont want the game to end. The island is also home to koalas in the wild and one of the best places for whale watching (coincides with the rugby season). The next expansion in NRL should be Dunwich!
  3. Reported on channel 9 that Reynolds expected to be back for Broncos on Friday.
  4. Latest forecast is for very little rain on Friday so that should help. Also not much else to do on Good Friday so maybe it will be closer to capacity. And latest team news is Reynolds is expected to play.
  5. Player welfare? Dont they want to be out after dark in Huddersfield?
  6. Doubt it will sellout but expect 40,000. After Titans start ( some would say their problem is they have yet to start) and TFs injury I think they will struggle to make 20,000. Id guess 18k if its decent weather but forecast is for rain. 6.30pm Kick off. Its getting on for 2 hours drive (3 hours by train) each way from Redcliffe (well Kippa-ring, there is no station in redcliffe, another 10 minute drive) but in holiday traffic can be considerably longer. And trains are usually disrupted over easter for maintenance. Dolphins fans will be lucky to get home before turning into a pumpkin.
  7. VFL free entry, Seagulls free entry for Titans members, Easts $7 (concession).
  8. They werent sitting at home doing nothing this weekend! Just money lost to the game spent on other activities.
  9. Wasnt suggesting that….just that the sports loving public of queensland were left jangling money in their pockets this weekend. I had to make do with Southport Sharks (VFL), Tweed Heads Seagulls (QRL) and Easts Tigers ((QRL) which cost me the grand total of $7 admission.
  10. 102 years ago tomorrow RLCC QF. Hornets 5 You lot 2…..lets keep the celebrations going Seven more sleeps.
  11. To make matters worse there were no AFL or rah rah games either. The A league was on international break and the brisbane bullets basketball are already finished. Even the netball team were out of state!
  12. And that was without any game in Queensland which usually has the largest crowds. Not sure how those responsible for the fixtures managed that.
  13. If you were. named Ponga you would make sure you spelled it correctly
  14. And their farm team ipswich got beat 24-0 today at Easts. Captain Tino F out until 2025. Not a weekend to remember
  15. The nearest Australia has to Pompeii…..But Pompeii is in better shape
  16. Not another ‘world’ series with only teams from two countries eligible.
  17. I hold the record for most appearances in skins in Rochdale
  18. I suppose that would be Canberras bye week.
  19. Yes, with Footy being on international break and England game in the evening it was a great opportunity to have a big push on marketing the cup games. Opportunity missed?
  20. 4 states covered? NSW, QLD, Victoria………Canberra is not a state…its a bus stop between Melbourne and Sydney. Tassie, Adelaide and WA not covered and neither is Northern Territory. So teams in only half the states and half the territories. Most northerly team is Cowboys, most westerly team is Melbourne. So the professional game covers about 20% of the country.
  21. Where is Eddie Stobart when you need him?
  22. Yes for some reason the NRL seem to like putting up the same clashes at Magic Round…its Manly v Broncos this year…i think thats three years in a row…..though you never tire of hammering the sea eagles.
