  1. Former work colleague of mine Emma Breheny ran the touchline with her youngest son Cameron today. Her eldest son Liam was the ref.
  2. Mr. Twain was wrong. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/nov/09/japan-gets-a-new-island-after-undersea-volcano-erupts
  3. The access problem isn't unsolvable, but would involve some 'negotiation' and persuasion. Don't forget there is already access to the site for deliveries and supporters.
  4. Orrell was the Academy home base and Wigan's training centre, its no longer used but the club still owns it. The move to Robin Park Arena allowed Wigan's, admin, teaching, training and none first team games to all be under one roof instead of split.
  5. They were previously based at the old Pembec School buildings having left the DW years before moving to Robin Park. The council wanted to redevelop the Pembec (Central Park) site and needed to find a new base for Wigan RL. The council needed to offload Robin Park Arena to save money so a neat solution was available. The rugby club haven't been based at the DW for years so had no affect on their move to the Arena.
  6. Ashcroft's gig sold out so quickly he has been booked for a second one.
  7. and... Wigan Warriors and Gigs and Tours are proud to announce that Wigan's own The Lathums will play at Robin Park Arena in July 2024, with Jake Bugg and Brooke Combe to support!
  8. Having move their HQ and training to Robin Park Arena Wigan are starting to take advantage of the facilities available to branch out into music concerts as an income stream. Having already announced that Richard Ashcroft and James Arthur will be performing at Robin Park Arena in July, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will headline Robin Park Arena on 18 July. https://wiganwarriors.com/blog/2023/12/04/noel-gallagher-to-perform-at-robin-park/?fbclid=IwAR1psUEQ29OhTiaOwAkDUB9eHqQsVfbl9X_rrAnoFGFngPZFe9xr56Lu6es Futtocks will be along shortly to question the use of the term "music".
  9. Following the release of the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film in 1990, a pet terrapin craze swept the country. As the terrapins inevitably grew in size, many became unwanted pets. People started abandoning their overgrown exotic pets and some found their way into the pond at Walton Hall and Gardens in Warrington. The terrapins still inhabit the pond to this day. I caught this one having a minute by the side of the pond a few weeks ago.
  10. Leigh were champions, but got hit with a 4-44 defeat, having won it 81/82 season.
  11. That's because what I posted isn't what I meant to say, it is not surprising you don't understand it as its gibberish. I've removed it.
  12. In 77/78 Leigh were in the 2nd division so no game for 78. Leigh won the 2nd division championship and stayed in the first division until 84/85 when they were relegated. In 81/82 Leigh won the first division title. They did play Australia on the 82 tour and lost 4-44 at Hilton Park.
  13. Our wildlife pond has taken on a bit of a wild life of its own, seems to have turned into an alien eyeball.
  14. Leigh didn't play the Kangaroos in 78 or 68, so Leigh didn't like most other teams play the touring side up to and including 82. From the 63 to 82 tours inclusive Leigh played Australia twice out of five tours or 2 from 4 if you discount 82 due to being in Div. 2. Just saying. If you have different stats I stand to be corrected.
  15. Actress Brigit Forsyth, 83. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-67590697
  16. The bizarre thing in soccer is that the difference in quality between a top team and a lower league team is not that great, lower league teams often give top teams a game and a turnover is not unexpected. If thi difference in wages reflected the difference in ability this would not be true.
  17. Jigsaw Puzzle Blues, brilliant B side to Fleetwood Mac's (original) Albatross.
  18. When you use laws to differentiate from rules you need to explain why. The main reason is you can change interpretations of a law but a rule is fixed, without the difference every time you wanted to change the 'rules' you would have to rewrite them. Coaches need to learn that once a decision is made, that is the decision, he should have no reason to comment on it despite TV pundits trying to cause controversy. Players should receive an instant ban for criticising a refs decision, coaches should be fined and made to watch games at home.
  19. Just managed to throw it into the post match interview. They are definitely on a mission. "It is the way forward" is what was said.
