His actions were excessive and cannot be defended. It is the worse case of punching to the head this season hence the longest ban. His behaviour was 100% unacceptable and indefensible.

Was this for the “punishment” game that they had to spend a few quid on as part of the RFL sanction for homophobic abuse from last season?

The first time I saw it, on a small screen from a different angle to ref etc, I was unsure where the first contact was so can live with a yellow under the current guidance etc. Bentley though was, yet again, not in control when he went to make the tackle. That’s the common factor in his record this year

It seriously makes my blood boil that before the coaches started whinging about justified red and yellow cards and the appropriate bans, instead of trying to coach their players, that the referees were sending players off for these types of incident but were told to act on the side of caution and not issue as many cards resulting in Bentley not seeing a red card

Add in the time he spent off the field for his red card and the 2 yellows and his missing game time numbers are quite spectacular.

In order to find solutions don’t you have to identify the issues? One issue which most agree on is the number of loop fixtures so how can 2 x10 which increases the number of loop fixtures, or leaves a much reduced and unworkable number, be the solution? The number of good quality players being produced is too low so how does reducing the number of teams, remembering the furore over reducing Academy numbers, assist? There isn’t enough money coming into the game so does creating 2 x 10 actually increase the money in the game? There are no doubt loads more questions that need asking/ raising before any structure can be agreed
