Yes - like a sporting fixture -
Eddie Hearn talking SL again......

I’ll see if I can dig it out but full game/live sport watching amongst the youth is pretty stable. Obviously the other stuff is important but, yes, they are still watching sport on TV when it’s on. -
New disciplinary system (Merged Threads)

Seems to have slipped under the radar but also discussed here -

He needs sports to be destabilised and desperate - because they need to hand over everything to him. Read what he says and why he says it in that context. -

To make a change from the guy who does the tannoy at every RL major event (who I like and who is very good at what he does but it is always him)? -
Eddie Hearn talking SL again......

To stop the talking in circles then. We really don't need characters. Not least because on the standards we appear to accept from other sports, we already have plenty. We also don't need the Hearns. That's been long established as an essential truth. -
Eddie Hearn talking SL again......

Is he? He does a bit of crowd banter but mostly focuses on his game. Away from the dartboard, he seems pretty reserved. If he wasn’t extraordinarily good at darts and very young then he’d not stand out. By which I mean: it’s the darts not the character that is the reason he’s become what he’s become. -
Here on the sunshine coast, we need one extra volunteer to do a course walk tomorrow morning but I'd be surprised if there's any issues. It's been above freezing in Hastings all day and we didn't get snow here. Looks like being brass monkeys at 9am tomorrow though.

If I were to write a sociology essay about it, I’d say Littler himself is defined almost by an absence of “character” in the sense that marketers and nostalgics usually mean. -
Salford financial issues(again…)
gingerjon replied to LeytherRob's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
I’m told there are a whole host of better clubs just outside the current 12 so what’s the risk to the whole game if Salford do go bust? Surely those ambitious set ups are strong enough to make a positive difference. -
England v Australia 2025 - coming to the UK?
gingerjon replied to Chris22's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
There was a comment in another thread where it was said that the RFL are currently preparing a business case. So nothing is remotely confirmed yet. -
England v Australia 2025 - coming to the UK?

They probably shouldn’t have said they were expecting to get the details out by Christmas then. -
We know, from the numbers that dribbled out last year, that there is basically zero financial incentive for the Challenge Cup participants currently. I think Wath Brow have done things poorly here but can’t blame them too much.

The presence of Leeds likely has an impact on Hunslet, though.

Film Thread (What have you been watching?)
gingerjon replied to John Drake's topic in Any Other Business / Any Other Sports
Probably not for everyone but I absolutely loved it. Kneecap. Like The Commitments in that it captures that frenetic youthful energy that comes with discovering music and is unapologetically from a working class perspective. Not like The Commitments in that it's very pro drugs and political. In a bit of a coincidence, the film I watched before this was also a controversial one about the Troubles. But from a century before. The Informer, one of the last great films of the silent era. Highly recommended if you get chance. -
Lower quality than expected so far but going the way predicted. Does Littler ever miss D10?

A lovely little piece by Harry Pearson in the Guardian (via When Saturday Comes) https://www.theguardian.com/football/when-saturday-comes-blog/2025/jan/03/characters-crowd-life-non-league-football-faces-names

Delayed from yesterday because of the horrific attack in New Orleans. The CFP Quarter Final/2025 Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Notre Dame is proving decent. 3-0 for the Bulldogs over the Irish in the 2nd quarter. Edit: Winner plays Penn State.

MvG v Littler could, potentially, be the most watched final since the 1980s. Just need Littler to do his bit now.
